warp speed ahead

Maybe I'm crazy but time's been moving a little extra fast these days. However there are a few glitches in the matrix someone should check out, like when some days it feels like you could jump in the lake and others you should brace for nuclear winter. Being on a college campus its fun to see people screw up and wear the jean shorts/t-shirt/sandles combo as it begins to snow. The master seasonal clock is getting screwy. Somewhere in the back of my head all I can see is Al Gore explaining how hot the earth is getting while he gets raised on cherry picker*. Moving on to the next sad bastard, the world is a burning craphole, but an otherwise masterfully pieced movie, we have Fast Food Nation. I've been a vegetarian for 2 years and decided to take a hiatus for Kubush's wedding in Poland(polish meatballs/sausage). What a sobering return to meat this movie was. This movie should have been called "Their's poop in your burger" then a hell a lot more people would have gone to see it. No Richard Linklater and schlosolalaso had to be all artsy with the delivery what with fez from that 70's show. That being said it had all the right stuff that Richard Linklater's films have come to be known by. I thought scanner darkly was top notch, this is definitely the shining star in the bunch.

As far as music's been going lately its a little hard to think of anything but the singleman affair's world takeover. Dan called me on sunday night at 3 in the morning(UK time) from the ocean side where they were playing a festival. Damn proud and bitterly jealous, we'll leave it at that.

Outside of TSA, I've been listening to Panda Bear a bit lately. Its got a nice mix of animal collective beats with an emphasis in beach boys vocals. Its fun to listen to it and then imagine how he pieced together the songs.

And as promised to pip, some pics from robbies party:

First of all, we'll start out with a kudos to the man that made this all possible. Yeah, we're talking the daddy. Never left disappointed, sober, hungry, or a dollar poorer. Robbie, you're a king amongst men.
Next we'll move into the part of the party where nick and lee danced and sang to a song they appeared to really have loved. Unfortunately this blog doesn't come in surround sound.

We made pip sit on the ground cause he was from iowa. I didn't think it was fair but you sometimes you have to go with the flow

And last but not least we have munchy eating leather. That's his full name in case you were wondering.

*this probably would make absolutely no sense unless you saw an inconvenient truth, but thanks for moving past it if you decide to read further.

"appropriately, Fast Food Nation skewers more than just cheap hamburgers, plastic ketchup packets and the crooked machinery sustaining their production. The film also revels in America's blantant self-comnsumption-Linklater, his camera hovering along the side of the freeway, quietly parades big-box stores and fast-food huts, restaurant chains and theme bars, an endless expanse of parking lots and colorful signs, each more painfully anonymous than its predecessor, faceless, homogenized and cold. This is the new American wasteland; Author James Howard Kunstler-in his book The Geography of Nowhere: The Rise and Decline of America's Man-Made Landscape--describes suburban overdevelopment as 'depressing, brutal, ugly, unhealthy, and spiritually degrading", sharing his horror at America's devolution into 'a landscape of scary places... that has simply ceased to be a credible human habitat'. FFN may be peppered with grim visions of immigrant exploitation, sexual abuse, slaughterhouses, shit-riddled meat and human dismemberment, but Linklater's franchise pageant remains one of the film's most disturbing sequences. What Happy Meals have done to our arteries and waistlines is disconcerting; what fast food has done to our country is heartbreaking."

I read that months ago and thought it worth repeating. Time for dinner! - Nick and Kaitlin
