nothing like shoes on a sunny day

Thanks to Brian and Lee for getting a last minute BBQ together yesterday.

The shoes were flying

And guess who's baaaack
Fresh off his tour of playing small english towns and hanging out with Kate Moss

I played beach volleyball on saturday at a school retreat but gladly played again with Lee and company. My favorite part was when Brian went to pee and found a bunch of guys with a pickup truck stealing a soccer goal with wire cutters. That revelation slightly tinged the sunday sun but it was too nice out to get worked up.

Alan Lee and the ally cat

I was watching Chicago Tonight this evening(I'm getting old) and they had this segment on 18 year old senior Alan Lee who is facing prison time for his story he wrote in CREATIVE WRITING. I felt the need to capitilize that part. Couple this with Ennui's lates entry and you've got yourself a terrifying state of affairs. There is a blurring of line between crazy and dangerous and I'm pretty sure this is gonna get worse before it gets better.

I was taking the garbage today(woolers, damn garbage why won't it take out itself) and I noticed a kitty in the ally. Sitting in a driveway this led me to wonder if this cat heated itself on my engine during the winter or maybe in the pipes coming from our laundry area.

April showers*

I was taking the garbage out tonight and noticed it pouring. I was gonna run to the car to get the next disc from harry potter, half blooded prince** but it was raging down
rain. It reminded me of every time school was closing up at UofI for the spring semester and there would be that crazy april night of rain where you feared for drowning hobos. The last one I vividly remember was senior year in front of roy/nick/pip/toms. In addition to rain there were was an excellent lightening and thunder show as well. I remember playing frisbee on california next to that school and getting sopping wet. That was the night of the ween concert at the canopy, tommy came home dancing about how he matched jean and dean shot for shot.

*april showers may bring May flowers but mayflowers bring pilgrims as well

**I am a bonafied hipocrite, long live the chosen one

warp speed ahead

Maybe I'm crazy but time's been moving a little extra fast these days. However there are a few glitches in the matrix someone should check out, like when some days it feels like you could jump in the lake and others you should brace for nuclear winter. Being on a college campus its fun to see people screw up and wear the jean shorts/t-shirt/sandles combo as it begins to snow. The master seasonal clock is getting screwy. Somewhere in the back of my head all I can see is Al Gore explaining how hot the earth is getting while he gets raised on cherry picker*. Moving on to the next sad bastard, the world is a burning craphole, but an otherwise masterfully pieced movie, we have Fast Food Nation. I've been a vegetarian for 2 years and decided to take a hiatus for Kubush's wedding in Poland(polish meatballs/sausage). What a sobering return to meat this movie was. This movie should have been called "Their's poop in your burger" then a hell a lot more people would have gone to see it. No Richard Linklater and schlosolalaso had to be all artsy with the delivery what with fez from that 70's show. That being said it had all the right stuff that Richard Linklater's films have come to be known by. I thought scanner darkly was top notch, this is definitely the shining star in the bunch.

As far as music's been going lately its a little hard to think of anything but the singleman affair's world takeover. Dan called me on sunday night at 3 in the morning(UK time) from the ocean side where they were playing a festival. Damn proud and bitterly jealous, we'll leave it at that.

Outside of TSA, I've been listening to Panda Bear a bit lately. Its got a nice mix of animal collective beats with an emphasis in beach boys vocals. Its fun to listen to it and then imagine how he pieced together the songs.

And as promised to pip, some pics from robbies party:

First of all, we'll start out with a kudos to the man that made this all possible. Yeah, we're talking the daddy. Never left disappointed, sober, hungry, or a dollar poorer. Robbie, you're a king amongst men.
Next we'll move into the part of the party where nick and lee danced and sang to a song they appeared to really have loved. Unfortunately this blog doesn't come in surround sound.

We made pip sit on the ground cause he was from iowa. I didn't think it was fair but you sometimes you have to go with the flow

And last but not least we have munchy eating leather. That's his full name in case you were wondering.

*this probably would make absolutely no sense unless you saw an inconvenient truth, but thanks for moving past it if you decide to read further.

come see my brother's and neighbor's bands at the hideout on thursday: That's like silly squared times silly! see below

As in tomorrow. The show starts at 9pm and annie "rock falls" reese will be opening so get there on time. Plus the singleman affair will be playing as well...

eeear what?

Who could ask for anything more than tons of friends at the hideout on a thursday night.

Life's been moving pretty quickly lately. It's scary to think how fast february and march blew by. We recently added another cat to our apartment We've been slowly anti-weening Ween into this new kitty who for the most part hisses alot and occasionally cuddles up to you. We've been slowly introducing the two cats together but have been mostly concentrating on mixing there room schedules and blankets. I guess the lesson is to concentrate on the smells first and then actual contact later. Its all very confusing and I've got to give my thesis proposal by the end of this quarter for my next four years of research which doesn't help matters much. Anywho I've been going to daytrotter alot lately(thanks nick and annie) and have really been enjoying some elf power and of montreal gems.

And last but not least, a pearl in the internet ocean, a commentary on crappy cereals featuring these amazing contributions:

And finally as a sendoff I'll quote the host of JBTV(channel 34), who was interviewing a band that is going to play at the mutiny(crappy bar a block from me)tonight:
Bye bye, stay high, and keep on rocking and rolling.
